So I haven't been up to much lately, mainly just watching my James Bond boxset and singing along to Pitch Perfect which I have watched several times over this weekend. Fat Amy, I love you "even though some of you are pretty thin, I think you all have fat hearts and that is all that matters". Rebel Wilson has become one of my favourite actresses, she is so god damn funny. KIMYE BABY, KIMYE BABY, KIMYE BABY! How exciting is that news?! I feel like I am as excited as a Kardashian sister would be (I wish). So unexpected! Congratulations.

Happy new year! Let's hope 2013 is bigger and better.

images from idressmyselff / tumblr

Baitong, real name Yanin Namasonth, is the cool monochrome girl who founded the fashion and style blogs Pretty Sickly and I Dress Myselff. Started off blogging to document her outfits and now she is a style inspiration to many. Here's what she had to say about bloggers storming the fashion industry and what she will be up to next year.

Your Tumblr's idressmyselff and prettysickly, and now relatively new blog also named idressmyselff are very popular. With people constantly asking you for style advice and looking at your outfits for inspiration. Did you expect that you would make opportunities for yourself by documenting your outfits online?
No never, I just had the intention of documenting my style for myself to see the progress and to help me choose outfits quickly when I'm in a rush. I'm so grateful that people really are inspired by what I do and opportunities that came with it.

You have a very mature and sophisticated style. What influences your personal style?
It changes alot but at the moment my age. I'm 18 now and since I'm a young adult I've come to the choice that I need to dress like an adult and I was done with my experimenting phase.

Bloggers are making such a huge impact on the fashion industry. Their taking over fashion week, designers are looking to them for inspiration and even collaborating with them. Why do you think bloggers are suddenly making this impact?
I think it's because we see things differently and can take a designers view and add our own touch or explore it in a more creative way. We are like the insiders of fashion but yet still normal people and I think alot of people can relate to that and not be intimidated by bloggers.

It's coming up to the end of another year. Have you got anything exciting planned in the new year?
Yes, I'm going to be working on a small line of mine, I'm still in the process of what it would be because I don't want to rush into it but it will be something small. And most likely a lot of travelling and gaining inspiration.

You wake up in the morning. What motivates you to get up?
The thought of being creative and putting together an outfit really wakes me up. The night before I normally have a quick idea of what my outfit the next day would be like or how my hair and make up would be so I just have to get up the next morning and try it out. Oh and food of course!

I know your not studying at the moment, but do you think you'll ever go back to studying in the future? If so, what would you study?
I don't think so, I enjoy the freedom too much and studying in college was very limited and my creativity was put on hold.

Favourite designer? Favourite high street stores to shop at?
Designer would be Alexander Wang and high street store? Zara of course!

When your about to go shopping for a new wardrobe or just new pieces to add to your collection, where do you get your inspiration from?
Either from other blogs or architectures mainly. But music influences me as much.

Baitong's ethic to life and her maturity is why she is one of my favourite bloggers. I love to look at the way she styles her outfits and working in statement pieces into her very minimal wardrobe. Thank-you so much for your time and answers. Make sure you check out her ├╝ber stylish blogs. You can also find Baitong on Twitter and Instagram.

(I love that the pop-up shop was downstairs, it was a hidden treasure. I spy my name and cute little elephants arse that a drew. That was the only thing my mum taught me to draw when I was little.)

Sorry for the post being picture heavy, I didn't want to leave out any details of the shop as every inch of it was exquisite.

Luckily, I managed to go to a breakfast event at the Serge De Nimes pop-up shop, on Dover Street, before it was open to the rest of the public. So it was only a few bloggers there, all with their SLR's out,  soaking up all the beautiful details of the shop. To me, it was like walking into a exhibition on vintage Rio. One of the t-shirt collections is based on the Rio Carnival through the years of 1975 - 1977. The photos on the t-shirts were actually taken by Oliver Proudlock's mum Lena when she travelled there 3 consecutive years, 4 days each time, spending it pressing the take button on her camera. The t-shirts are of the highest quality and are made in a print factory in America. The whole vibe of Proudlock's company is one of a kind. It's high end, so artistic and unique. The shop certainly reflects that. As the name of the brand "Serge De Nimes" was the original name for denim, of course, you would see denim samples planted around the shop. I have two favourite tees which are the G.O.O.D LIFE Kanye tee, (I love me some Kanye West) and the Beach Couple tee from the Rio collection. SO good. I will definitely be making a purchase in the near future.

Take a look at this epic video from the launch party!

TOPSHOP boyfriend jacket / TOPSHOP chill tee / MISS GUIDED pencil skirt / VANS sk8-hi platforms / eBAY alexander wang replica / FOREVER 21 necklace / RIVER ISLAND rings / CASIO watch

It's been one of those long days where you just wish the apocalypse happened. I was rather looking forward to be chased by flesh eating zombies or making friends with aliens like Paul and E.T. We all knew it weren't going to happen though. So like I said, in my previous post, I wanted a grey pencil skirt to tuck my tees into. Volia. This is such a bargain skirt, only £10! It's gorgeous and so on trend. I also like the fact that the skirt is actually longer at the back and unlike the usually "drappiness" you see on waterfall skirts; this one is structured and has sharp tailored edges. As the skirt is quite sophisticated I needed a way to make it more to my casual style so that's why I have paired it with my vans even though it makes my legs look a foot long when the skirts are suppose to elongate your legs. I swear I have perfected the art of wearing clothes that don't suit my body shape.

As you can see I have now got long hair. AHHHH. Yes, I got micro bond hair extensions fitted in yesterday and although I had the worse night sleep ever because of them - I love them so much! They should get more comfortable once I have gotten used to have a lumpy, bumpy head. These were actually my christmas present from my father.

I hope everyone has a lovely christmas and santa gives you everything you wrote on your christmas list!

TOPSHOP boyfriend coat / TOPSHOP chill tee / TOPSHOP jeans / EBAY boots / FOREVER 21 necklace / CASIO watch / skull bracelet (shop unknown)

Topshop get the award for the tightest, skinny jeans ever - my poor legs got a little suffocated yesterday since I haven't worn skinny jeans in a while. It feels quite good to be back in. I am going through a laidback phase at the moment as the weather is just too god damn cold to give a shit. I really just want to be laying on a beach right now, maybe in Cyprus with my Dad's family? Daydreaming. I am also going through a tee-session, I don't know why I hated them so much before. Most versatile item you could own along with jeans. I could imagine tucking this tee into a grey midi pencil skirt paired with heels for a more dressier occasion. Ooo, that sounds quite perfect actually. Note to self: buy a midi pencil skirt in grey and black.

Youtubers: Meet Mr Suicide Sheep

I have never been more relaxed and stress-free in my entire life and no that is not because I have just pampered myself at a luxurious spa. In a matter of fact I'm chilling in my room, browsing YouTube for new, incredible, unique artists. Bam. I come across this wonderful channel called Mr Suicide Sheep and guys that is the reason why I am so incredibly relaxed.

Check it out here.

Fashion vs Style

images found on the internet

I have no idea where I read it but it has been playing on my mind for quite some time. Somebody wrote an article that was focused on how they hate fashion and love style. It's an odd concept but girls out there, ironically enough in the fashion industry, hate fashion but love style. Meaning that they don't particularly care much for fashion (fashion week and following trends) and they love the idea of having your own unique style, your own trends.

In some ways, I feel like this is me - in some context. I only pay attention to certain shows at fashion week e.g. Alexander Wang and Topshop Unique. I couldn't tell you their back story of how the brands come about but I could rave on about what I love about their collections. I wouldn't make sacrifices for the latest designer fad that everyone is raving on about i.e. the Celine Tote. I will sometimes follow the trends, like next season expect my wardrobe filled with minimal whites, nudes, pastels and metallics. Fashion is a luxury, if you can afford it, go get it. Not everyone can have style though, you either have it or you don't. It can't be bought (well, celebrities pay for their own personal stylists but yeah). Style is more personal, it's about you and how you wear the clothes. Not letting the clothes wear you. It's a form of self expression. Ever worn all black on a day that you felt like complete and utter shit, instead of going for the tracksuit bottoms?

A person who has incredible, distinctive style and can make it work is more intriguing. Somebody who can afford the latest fashion yet for the love of god cannot make it work is only fooling themselves. But using their money incredibly wisely, I must add. What I would do if I had enough money to quench my thirst for my shopping addiction. I love how 5 Inch and Up describes her blog: "I turned my shopping addiction to a career". If only, if only.

Blogging is turning a new leaf in the fashion industry. It's influencing designers more in the sense that more and more blogs appear where people are very experimented with their style. It's like a light bulb lights up in the fashion industries heads when they read blogs which I suppose is the reason why blogs are making a huge statement in the industry. I mean, look at Company magazine for example. In the past few months they have dedicated two of their magazines to bloggers - January's 2013 issue is the superblogger issue and their latest street style edit was focused around bloggers and their style. I like this new leaf and I hope this leaf stays around for a long while.

Let me know what you think about the topic of fashion vs style in the comment section below.

SWIM DEEP: "Don't just dream in your sleep, it's just lazy"

There is nothing better than discovering new artists and bands that you just instantly fall in love with. This happened to me whilst reading this months Company magazine when someone (sorry can't remember who wrote the feature and I'm too lazy to go and get the magazine( recommended to listen to Swim Deep. What drew me to listening to them is that they said Swim Deep's song "Honey" is for girls that feel a little bit disillusioned. That is just me today. Confused, lost and quite frankly, just feeling sorry for myself; in need of a little pick me up.

Swim Deep is made up of four very cool, 90's-looking boys called Austin, Zachary, Higgy and Cavan. With their fresh-from-the-past style and oozing with British charm; there is no wonder why this Birmingham freshies are being featured on First as Radar band of the week in September and now for their latest single "Honey". They describe their music as a mixture of Duran Duran and One Direction. Bit of an odd mix if you ask me. Yet, Swim Deep's music is a breath of fresh warm summer air. It just makes me want to be laying on a sun lounger, on some exotic island. Drinking fresh juice with that little hint of malibu. Oooh, a girl can dream. Their latest single "Honey" is the perfect pick me up and can motivate you to get out of bed and start living. With lyrics like "take your feet out your shoes and go crazy" and my favourite lyric, "don't just dream in your self, it's just lazy". Are you up and out of bed yet?

The quad will be on the road next year. First with Two Door Cinema Club; how epic would that be, seeing both of those incredible bands in one night?! Then they will be doing their own headline tour in February. Get your tickets here.
