Favourite artist #3: A$AP Rocky

I do listen to other music other than hip hop it's just that after watching this interviewA$AP Rocky (real name Rakim) did talking about his past and how he got to where he is today I just had to show you all. It truly is inspirational to see how far he has come, from being homeless in high school to now being the new up and coming hip hop artist. A$AP Rocky has managed to sell out a headline tour without even bringing out a commercial album. Only a mixtape. It's really good to see how hard work really pays off. After watching this interview I'm sure you'll agree that you have so much respect for him as a person and not just an artist. Can I just mention how his style is off da chain?! More stylish than Kanye West by miles. I wonder what his own collection would look like if he ever decided to design one? Oh and A$AP is like BFF with my favourite designer, Alexander Wang.

Top Knot-spiration

YES TOP KNOTS! I despise the length of my hair so I tend to keep it up and out of my face. It's the worst when it's constantly in your face like an annoying human being that won't leave you the fuck alone. I honestly wish my face shape is the shape for short hair so I could literally wake up and do nothing to it! Saying that, I can't wait to have long hair again and experiment with different hair styles and colours. However, I will stay true to the top knot. It's incredibly easy to do and you can switch it up from making it messy or slick. Making it small or big. Long or short. Kelly Osbourne's top knot height is IN-CRED-E-BALL. Marge Simpson eat your heart out love. This past week I have been rocking the walnut whip, which I have rightly named. Yummy food hair. It has been a pain in the ass though trying to get it the particular height and texture. I do have really bad OCD with my hair. This week I am going to try the messy top knot that Boohoo's blog has now taught me how to do. So thank-you. My hair is sorted for the week now.

Favourite Artist #2: Alexander Spit

So a friend told me to listen to Real RSWD Pt. 1 ft. CBG and since then I have been addicted to it's chilled out vibes. Who knew that you would be able to find a hip hop track that had the right vibes for a relaxing Sunday? I have just been eager to find out more about Alexander Spit, a L.A (of course, the coolest city) based producer and rapper. So whilst I write this post I am listening to his songs on Soundcloud which features 8 sets.

After reading a couple of paragraphs about himself and his work I have come to the conclusion that he is a genius and has a great work ethic. In 2011, he only managed to release one project due to going through "a lot of personal shit" and had the worst and longest writer's block. 2012 marked a fresh start for him. He told himself that he was going to his best to never experience that again and started working on several different projects. He has now had four releases which you can download for free from his website. 99.9% of Spit's work has been self-produced as he takes a lot of pride of producing his own work and likes being very much involved. 29th January 2013, we will see the Spit's commercial debut with A Breathtaking Trip to that Otherside LP.

If you download A Breathtaking Trip EP from his website you will see that it comes with a booklet which has epic artwork in. It's vibrant and eye-catching.

Down with the trumpets

MISS SELFRIDGES leather jacket
ASOS catching the sun maxi dress
eBAY shoes
eBAY bag
FOREVER 21 necklace
CASIO gold watch

This week has been absolutely hectic! I've barely been at home to do any blog posts. You'll see what I've been up to in my weekly instagram post which will be up tomorrow. Last night I went to see Rizzle Kicks at Brixton Academy, it was such a brilliant night. The cherry on the cake was when James Cordon came on stage to do Mamma do the hump. Epic. I finally got these shoes that I have been lusting over for the past couple of weeks! Having a bit of dilemma though. Would you say these boots are heels or flats?

Chunky Monkey

Here come the boys. Good-bye feminine and hello boisterous.
The masculine, oversized, boyfriend trend has hit the high street and high end hard. With strong, tailored silhouettes and baggy, laid-back boyfriend jeans there is something in this trend for everyone. This is my favourite trend by far as I'm not really the most feminine girl, I love doing it like a dude. I think it's more fun that way because then you kind of get the best of both worlds with not really turning into an absolute tomboy in sweatpants and hoodies (as comfortable as they are, they should stay in the house). You still look sophisticated and classy.

My new favourite item from the boyfriend trend are chunky shoes. Oh boy, oh boy. They may not be for everyone, however, I adore them so much. They have been appearing a lot on Tumblr lately and will probably become to new big trend to come from Tumblr and probably end up on Blogger. Now they may not be as boisterous as the good, old, trusty Doc Martens but they are definitely up there. With the massive soles, grippling (a word I have made up for grips on the bottom of shoes, sounds kind of scary right?) details and tend to be pulled all together with a bold buckle. These particular shoes remind me on the Spice Girls moon boots days just not as bold and terrifying (personally, those moon boots are horrific and should only stay worn by the Spice Girls in the 90's.)

I have found a few pairs of these bad boys on eBay that are shipped from China, no surprise there, with they ultra bold and daring fashion sense. Here are links to a few of my favourites:

  1. Black spiked chunky ankle boots, £18.71
  2. Black laced chunky ankle boots, £27.02
  3. White laced chunky ankle boots with contrast heel, £25.99
  4. White laced chunky ankle boots, £26.99
  5. Black laced block chunky ankle boots, £22.99
It's safe to say, you find the most unique and extraordinary items on eBay. Good ol' China.

Would you ever rock these chunky boots?

Interview #1: Erika Bowes, Handful of Fashion

images from poisonedcandyfloss

This is a new feature on my blog to help me gain some experience in contacting people and conducting interviews. To kickstart it off, the lovely Erika Bowes from Poisoned Candyfloss and Handful of Fashion.

I first found Erika around two years ago when she first started her Tumblr. I was drawn to her edgy, laidback style and her lovely personality. Since then, Erika has gotten a huge following and started a blog on Blogger which is more of a personal blog. Showing us her latest purchases, the food she loves, what she's been up to and of course her style.

Hi! Introduce yourself to us. Five interesting facts about yourself?
Five facts would be that I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. In the exact same hotel as Barack Obama! I'm 5"7, my favourite food is Sushi and I'm half Japanese. As interesting as I get haha.

Due to the huge success of your blog on both Tumblr and Blogger you have become a style inspiration for many girls but where do you get your inspiration from?
I look at a lot of fashion bloggers blogs, polyvore collections and just celebrities like Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Olsens etc and mix up little bits from each!

You have a diverse playlist on your Tumblr. What are five songs that you can't stop listening to at the moment?
Thank you! And I'm really getting into deep house at the moment and I'm obsessed with Annie Macs show on BBC Radio 1 but normally when I can't stop listening to a song I upload it to Tumblr haha!

You have a very distinctive style. How would you describe it?
Um, I don't really see it as a style just clothes and patterns and colours I like I'll buy and just put them with something else in my wardrobe. It changes all the time. Sometimes punk, cute or preppy.

What inspired you to create a blog?
First blogger I discovered and was inspired by was Rumi Neely (Fashion Toast) even though I don't think our styles are the same she still made me want to make a blog.

If you were to have anyone's wardrobe, who's would it be and why?
Vanessa Hudgens has been looking really good lately so maybe hers? But it would probably change next week haha.

Thank-you so much Erika for the interview.

Runway soundtrack: Alexander Wang SS13

Songs: Put Ya Back In It - DJ Sliink | Yaow - Baauer | Bonkers - Jay Fay and Ray Calium | Harlem Shake - Baauer | Epic - Sandro Silva and Quintino

I don't think I'll ever stop raving on about Alexander Wang's SS13 show. It was so effortlessly cool, sporty and with a slight touch of futurism from the metallics. However, the soundtrack to the show was genius. The music is so important for a runway show as it sets the mood of the clothes and the type of women that the designer thinks would wear these clothes. Alexander Wang's soundtrack was so fierce with the catchy beats, like the women walking down the runway to it were strong and dominant. Yes, I have downloaded this soundtrack and listen to it whilst I am walking to the bus stop and the thoughts that go through my mind are embarrassing.

Congrats Wang, you are now one of my favourite designers and I wish I could afford at least one piece from this collection so I could walk down the street feeling like a fierce bitch.

Layer cake

CHARITY SHOP leather waistcoat
TOPSHOP studded camouflage jacket
TESCOS lace blazer
TOPMAN graphic tee
OFFICE underground creepers
eBAY and TOPSHOP rings
H&M bag

Cold weather = layers and I love layering my clothes that have different textures. With my outfit today, I created a juxtaposition of the romantic lace blazer and the edgy, fierce leather waistcoat and leather look skirt. Adding the fur for warmth as London is god damn cold at the moment. I can't bring myself to wear gloves out though because I hate being restricted so much.

I love Thursdays so much because I just have one lesson at college so then I am free the rest of the day. So today, I caught up with my fellow blogger friend Desriee (blog) and went for a stroll. P.S. I'm really not this ginger and isn't that vibrant in real life I swear. The colour just doesn't agree with the camera.

Favourite Artist #1: Make way for Angel Haze

Welcome to my new blog and what a way to kick start it with my favourite song and artist of the week. The new badass female rapper on the scene named Angel Haze who according to her lyrics to my favourite song  "New York", she runs New York. Move out the way Azealia Banks, your year reign  as the hot new female rapper is over. Whilst listening to her EP "Reservation" you can definitely see the similarities between Haze and Banks with the fierce lyrics, fast paced rap and the bits of singing in between. Not to mention, great beats.  So there is no surprise to hear that she is planning to collaborate with Banks. "New York" has definitely been the soundtrack to my week so far. Feeling like "some next hood bitch" walking down the road listening to it through my headphones. It has a very catchy beat that you just want to dance along to or "skank" as you say. When you listen (or read like I did) the lyrics you can see the determination that Angel Haze has to become number one.

Angel Haze will be touring the UK February next year so if you're interested, try and get some tickets if you can. When they go on sale that is. Also, you can get her EP "Reservation" on her website here for free by signing up to her mailing list. I strongly recommend that you do.

Let me know what you think?
